Alex Knost’s New Surf Flick May Change Your Perception of What “Good Surfing” is

When we try to figure out what the film is, it just keeps moving. ” Knost is probably the only person who knows that that means, but it does speak to why Knost is one of the most enthralling surf characters around—he’s tuned into a different frequency, and while most of us can’t actually hear it, we can see its effect on his surfing, where cheater-five barrels and wild laybacks abound.

That’s because over the past decade, while mainstream professional surfing’s rank and file mostly focused on either carving 5’10” thrusters to heat victories or punting stock standard air revos (also on 5’10” thrusters) in freesurfing clips, Alex Knost did something very different.
