Paul Greene is no different. “Growing up around the ocean and mountains of Santa Barbara, I was drawn toward the natural beauty, and felt compelled to capture my surroundings as more than just a memory,” says Greene, recalling the reason he first picked up a camera. “As I started to surf more, I really wanted to save and share the glimpses of indescribable beauty I would see in the water.
From pointbreak perfection, to wild A-frames, to dead-wind evenings filled with blown glass barrels under a cotton candy sky. “I’d love to continue to explore unseen perspectives,” Greene continues. “I hope my work prompts the viewer to become aware of the world around them in some new way.
The Follow The Light foundation, in memory of SURFING Magazine’s famous Photo Editor, Larry “Flame” Moore, has been honoring the best young surf photographers in the world since Flame’s passing in 2005, while awarding one winner each year with a $5000 grant to kickstart their careers.
