Gabriel Medina’s New World Order

New world champion, Gabriel Medina, was standing in the press pit holding the world title upside down, answering questions in Portuguese, English and Spanish while relying on a Pigeon-speaking security guard to keep the Brazilian throng at arms length.

Kelly was the first casualty in the world title shoot out when Medina cruised through round three against Dusty with a pair of 8. 83’s and thus made it impossible for Slater to play catch up.

The Brazilians had three levels of cheering – loudest for Gabriel, second loudest for other Brazilians and third highest for anyone surfing against the other title contenders, Fanning and Kelly.
