The surf trip is one of a surfer’s inalienable rights. If there were a constitution written for surfers and by surfers it would certainly include somewhere in the top five amendments that every surfer has the right to explore, to see and ride waves half a world away, and enjoy the ocean in a foreign place.
For James Fazio, surfing and spending time with children in different countries clearly gave him a deep sense of compassion toward the kids who don’t have those opportunities. Time Well Spent is James Fazio’s documentary that will take four young talented surfers to Panama.
These kids have never been on a surf trip away from home, either because they’ve grown up in orphanages or their families couldn’t afford to, and they’re time in Central America won’t just be spent in the ocean.
